I'm using the latest version of Droplr on a Windows XP Professional installation. My browser is Firefox 10. This problem started about a week ago. Here's a sample link http://d.pr/19c1 And attached is a screen cap. Thanks

Rog

    Hi Rog,

I'm not sure I understand the problem. Are you saying that you can't upload jpg images but everything else uploads fine?

    HI Levi,*

*I provided a link with the forum post, but here's another one.
http://d.pr/tpbz No longer does the picture itself show up. Yes you can
download the picture but not VIEW it as you could several months ago. I'm
using XP Pro and Firefox 10. I have disabled Adblock for Droplr, not no
    avail.

    Thanks,

    Rog

Rog, for some reason this file was uploaded as a "file" instead of an "image". Is there any way you can duplicate this by uploading new images? Is it happening to all your images or just this one?

And just to clarify are you uploading these JPGs through the website or through Droplr's Window's app?

    Through the Windows app.

How exactly are you uploading these files?

    • Drag and drop from explorer/desktop?
    • Right click | Send To | Droplr on explorer/desktop?
    • Drag from a browser directly to the drop zone?
    • (...)

I can't seem to replicate this issue, even with the files you posted here.

    - Drag and drop from explorer/desktop to the Droplr icon[image: Inline
image 1]. BTW drag and drop an explorer file to the droplr website works
    as it should.

Windows XP Professional, right? Also, I'll need a code for one of those drops so that I can double check on the database to see where the error is but seems like the call that figures out the file's mime type is failing (it's a windows API call).

I think I know what's wrong. The windows app relies on the registry to determine a file's mime type based on its extension. Can you please try this build and let me know if it fixes the issue for you? http://d.pr/f/KthD/5HOOCmHO

This is super weird. Can you please provide me with the drop codes for these images you're uploading, as well as the filenames and a zip with some of them?

    PS: The name's Bruno ;)

Sorry for the name screwup. Here are two links and the corresponding
photos attached. BTW, V 2.03 puts a tab on the task bar (XP Pro) along
with the usual icon. Closing the tab removes the icon as well which should
    not happen.

I am running Windows XP Professional and I am encountering this bug as well. It only happens if I drag and drop onto the drop zone. If I upload the same image using the website it works fine. Are there any updates on this? I'm running Droplr 2.0.3

    Hi Michel,

No updates. However, I have moved on to Win 7 and here, Droplr works
fine. Nice to know that I wasn't crazy.

    Try out this version: http://d.pr/f/6sRC/Q5duJaC8

Download the executable file and override the one you have installed. This one goes in Debug mode, so if you right click the tray icon, you'll find a "Debug > Console" entry. Click it, then drag a file to the target and let me know what's the output. It should print the file mime-type that the windows registry is reporting (which is the mime-type on which Droplr 2.0.3) relied.

I went ahead and made it rely on file extension instead. Lemme know how it works for you guys.

Closing this as we're unable to reproduce.

Two other users reported the same issue and were only able to fix it by reinstalling Windows. This leads us to believe that the real problem is outside of our control.
